Playing upon the acronym of a famous British broadcasting corporation, Black Box Club was a high quality, radio-styled tapezine which covered Doctor Who and much more besides. Issues were themed, with Black Box Club 2 featuring the vast majority of Doctor Who content and the other issues focusing more generally on Hammer and Amicus horror films and Sherlock Holmes.

The second issue included edited interviews with Tom Baker, Colin Baker and Sophie Aldred, in addition to guest spots with Who luminaries John Nathan Turner and Louise Jameson. Some of these were also issued in uncut form as separate tapes under the banner Out of the Box Doctor Who Tapes.
